The Community Spirit

One childhood memory that I recall takes place during the fruit season. During such times we would receive visitors from all areas of Pekan who brought with them some of the produce from their own orchard as gifts. The family home would always be stocked with all types of local fruit – durian, rambutan, langsat, you name it.
In appreciation of these thoughtful gestures, my late father would make the effort to personally thank the village folk who had come by. He would personally travel to the homes of his constituents and thank them for their gifts.
I’m certain many of the people of Pekan still remember his visits. While this memory is special and unique to my family and the people of my hometown, the gesture and intent behind it is familiar to all of us. It is a simple, yet meaningful reciprocal relationship that fosters respect among individuals. The spirit of neighbourliness in Malaysia has always been a part of our national culture, regardless whether it is during Ramadhan or other festive occasions. Communal activities like gotong-royong, kenduri (or open houses) and balik kampung are a reminder of this relationship.
The culture of balik kampung is important in preserving the connection between those of us who live in more urban and developed areas of the country and the traditional, cultural and rural way of life. I observed that the recent long weekend was just one example of many in our rich Malaysian culture where most of us return to our hometowns to reconnect with relatives and friends.
While we make our contribution to the development of the nation, the continuation of such traditions and relationships is crucial for us to preserve our culture and identity as Malaysians. How do you plan to connect with your neighbours and community this coming festive season? Share your experiences in the comments below.

Good Try And Good Lesson
Perhaps, we were not the perfect group still existed many drawbacks when we were taking the acting. Nonetheless, we had already given ourselves a good try and excellent enjoyment on this acting. All of us gave ideal cooperation and spirit until we could manage and succeed the acting task perfectly.
From the recommendation from Lecturer, we all were surprised since he gave comments that even we had some weaknesses, nevertheless, we were the group that could demonstrate oursleves naturally and had a high spirit and cooperation. This is very happy and glad news to our group, this is a super encouragement to us in order we can try our best for the following activities.

What we learnt from 3days of acting?
Firstly, we learn all the history of the past that has been the key and also the story of success in our country. This histories involves the interaction between all ethnics for example in the history of formation of Malaysia, riots during 13 may 1969 and so on. This history is the best source of keeping us to be ready and to create a peace environment in order to preserve all the success that we have gained in the past as well as to improve ourselves from the lessons learnt from the past.
Next, we get to prepare ourselves in presenting ourselves in public. Since acting requires courage as well as concentration, it helps us to build up our confident when facing others in public. Not to forget, we could express ourselves in the class. Rather than having a normal class session , we get to involve ourselves in contributing the ideas and knowledge to everyone in the class. The lesson becomes more interesting and lively with this kind of activities.
Overall, our group has benefits a lot from here. We get the fun and excitment in attending classes that we normally dont get it and we also learn many things which we always wish to by an alternative way besides reading from books and slide presentation. Thanks to all my group members for having a good time with me in acting out the comics drawn and also thanks to all my coursemate for giving us a wonderful time together. Not to forget to Mr. Ahmad who has come up with such briliant activities. May the joy and excitment continues for times to come.

Comic Drawing

Tanah Melayu and How Japanese had treated the citizen here. Cruelty, unfairness, and wildness are best to describe during that time.
